Learn the basics of the intricate trade of leatherplaiting. Using Kangaroo leather, you will make your choice of an 8-strand whip or a 13-strand belt.

Kangaroo leather is often used by Australian leatherplaiters as it is one of the strongest leathers available. Its unique structure allows it to be cut very thin and still retain its strength.

Meet your tutor

Bill Webb has been leatherplaiting for over 40 years. He started when he was just five years old and perfected his skill under the guidance of the late RM Williams. Bill is a four-time Dame Mary Durack Award Winner and took first and second places in the 2015 Australian Plaiting Championships.

All our Hands-on Workshops have a limited number of participants to ensure you receive all the assistance and direction you require.

Spectators are welcome at all workshops.
