These summer school holidays, let your kids dive into a world of colour and creativity! In this playful collage workshop, children aged 9-12 will explore the beauty of nature’s shapes and patterns, from plants to animals, while learning fun ways to observe and bring nature into their art. Led by local artist Alex Stalling, kids will create vibrant, nature-inspired collages on A3 paper, perfect for framing and showing off at home. Join us for a fun and inspiring session that’ll spark young imaginations!

Meet your tutor

Alex is a multidisciplinary artist and director of Tinker, a local arts studio in Toowoomba. Her practice explores personal identity through automatic imagery and symbolic animal forms. Passionate about fostering a sense of community, Alex creates participatory arts projects that inspire connection and creativity.

In Science Nature Art, Alex brings together a series of large-scale collages that explore the intersection of scientific study and artistic exploration. Using creative techniques to reinterpret the natural world each piece is created using hand-painted textured paper with designs inspired by natural pattern formations at a macro and micro scale. The works highlight the parallels between scientifically observing nature and reinterpreting it artistically, offering a fresh perspective on the world.
