Owen Seeman

Owen Seeman of Queensland Museum

Dr Owen Seeman is the Collection Manager for Arachnida at Queensland Museum. He is responsible for the care of the collection, scientific loans of specimens, and identifications.

Owen studied entomology at The University of Queensland. His initial interest in ticks soon became a career in the study of mites. His main research area is the taxonomy of mites that live with insects. He also works with mites of quarantine importance, especially spider mites. These mites are well-known pests of plants worldwide.

Owen is also an editor for the journals Zootaxa and Systematic and Applied Acarology.
