Join Dr. Maurice French AM, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Southern Queensland and Vice-president of the Toowoomba Historical Society, for an insightful look into Toowoomba’s historic sites. Discover the processes and resources used to research the history of significant buildings and businesses, with the 'Beresford' building at the corner of Ruthven and Russell Streets as a case study, tracing its journey from 1860 to the present day.

About the presenter

Dr Maurice French AM is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Southern Queensland and Vice-president of the Toowoomba Historical Society. He is the author of a dozen books on the history of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, including Toowoomba: A Sense of History 1840-2008 and, most recently (with Judy Brewer), the 2-volume Bar and Boniface: A Compendium of Toowoomba’s Pubs and Publicans 1844-2020.
