Queensland Museum Rail Workshops was severely damaged by the hailstorm on 26 October 2025. The site is closed temporarily for safety while remediation takes place.
We don’t yet have a reopening date to share, but we’ll continue to keep our community updated as work progresses. As a historic, heritage-listed site, the museum requires highly specialised care during all remediation works. Repairs must be completed safely, sustainably and in a way that protects the building’s significant heritage.
Protecting our collection is a priority. Significant items have been moved to secure offsite or alternate onsite locations to keep them safe during repairs. Everything is being carefully monitored by our collections team.
Follow the Queensland Museum website and social media channels for the latest updates. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to restore the museum.
