Membership Expression of Interest

Queensland Museum invites expressions of interest from Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples to join the Queensland Museum Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultative Committee (QMATSICC). Expressions of interest close 11:59pm on Friday, 30 October 2026.

Overview

At Queensland Museum, we understand our role is not only to care for natural and cultural collections, but also to listen, learn and create space for stories, knowledge and histories to be shared respectfully and meaningfully.

Our commitment to working with Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples is guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy, which positions leadership, cultural safety, reconciliation, repatriation and workforce development as core organisational priorities.

QMATSICC provides valued advice to the Board of the Queensland Museum on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and oversees delivery of the Strategy.

Through their experience, knowledge and community connections, Committee members support Queensland Museum's goal to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, languages, knowledge and histories in everything we do, and to champion repatriation.

Further information about QMATSICC's role, responsibilities and operations are available in the Terms of Reference. Members receive remuneration, and reasonable travel expenses associated with attending meetings in person will be covered as appropriate.

If you are interested in being part of this important work, please complete the online expression of interest form and upload your Curriculum Vitae/Resume for consideration.
