Event overview

Schools are invited to participate in Cobb+Co Museum’s annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

Celebrate the history and culture of the First Australians through a full day of activities, during which students gain first-hand experience in traditional music, dance, storytelling, games, skills, crafts and more – all the things Cook did not see when he came here in 1770.

Students will participate in several different activities throughout the day, such as:

  • gather together each morning for a Welcome and Smoking Ceremony
  • Murri connection to country - tucker, medicines, tools and weapons
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander games
  • boomerang and spear throwing
  • dreaming stories and art activities
  • hands on activities using artefacts in The Binangar Centre
  • a daily cultural performance with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performer.
