MUSEUM ACCESS

Although Queensland Museum Rail Workshops is temporarily closed to the public due to storm damage sustained in October 2025, we have good news. Planes, Trains and Autos presents Fully Charged is powering ahead! The event will go ahead as planned in the Moving Goods Annex and our expansive outdoor spaces.

Step into history in a whole new way as you follow our Historical Trail, uncovering icons like the mighty Powerhouse, the Traverser, and the restored 130-year-old Ipswich Signal Cabin, now newly installed on museum grounds. Then get hands-on with historical items, perfect for curious kids.

Museum collections and indoor exhibitions remain closed while remediation works continue. Find out more about the museum’s temporary closure.

Make a weekend of it, check out the full 2026 Planes, Trains and Autos festival program running from Saturday, 2 May to Monday 4 May including exciting events across the Ipswich region.

For more information visit The Planes, Trains and Autos website.

Planes, Trains and Autos presents Fully Charged is an Ipswich City Council initiated event presented in partnership with Queensland Museum Rail Workshops as part of Planes, Trains and Autos festival. Follow Ipswich Festivals’ social media for future updates.
