Museums are places where families can explore and learn together. Families can enjoy a range of exhibitions, events and activities during their visit to Queensland Museum Tropics.

Staff are located throughout Queensland Museum Tropics to assist, offer directions or interpret information. Children’s activities and interactions feature throughout our exhibitions.

Moving around the museum

Children supervision
Children 12 years and under must be accompanied by a carer or guardian at all times when visiting the museum.

Pram access
The museum is accessible for parents bringing prams or strollers. Lifts are located in the centre of the building to enable access to all levels of the museum.

Family room
There is a family room with a nappy change table and easy access for prams located on the Ground Floor and Level 1.

Child-friendly eating
The Galley Café has child-friendly menu options. Highchairs are available upon request.

Learning at the museum

When visiting the museum, adults accompanying children are encouraged to scaffold and model learning behaviours such as conversations, observations, comparisons and inquiring to learn together.

This will foster a love of learning while supporting connections to environments and communities from local to global. Museums are a great way to make learning fun and learn at your own pace.
