Queensland Museum's exciting new program, Museum Meet Up!, offers students a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science up close. Thanks to the generous support of the Morgans Foundation, students now have the chance to step behind the scenes, interact with leading museum scientists, and dive into cutting-edge research and discoveries.
Each term, students are introduced to a different scientist and their "office"—whether it’s an outback fossil dig, a limestone cave, or even a tropical reef. In Term 2, students met Queensland Museum's Senior Scientist and Curator of Palaeontology, Scott Hocknull, who shared his passion for reconstructing ancient Queensland ecosystems and the innovative technologies used in his work. From drone exploration to fossil excavation, students learned how scientific methods bring prehistoric life back to light.
In Term 3, students were immersed in the world of marine science with Curator of Parasitology, Scott Cutmore. Scott gave a glimpse into his field and lab research, revealing the hidden animal communities that thrive in the oceans—and even inside other animals.
Through Museum Meet Up!, Queensland Museum brings science to life, creating real-world connections to scientific inquiry that inspire the next generation of scientists.
