Project DIG with BHP/BMA

Among the challenges faced by museums in the modern world are the limitations of data storage and sharing. Queensland Museum is the keeping place for millions of artefacts, specimens and research items, making up Queensland’s State Collection.

With so many objects stored, only a fraction of our fascinating collection can ever be on public display. Project DIG (Digital Infrastructure Growth) has put Queensland Museum at the forefront of innovation and enabled us to address this challenge.

Project DIG has brought advanced scientific imaging and interactive digital technologies to Queensland Museum, seeding new research projects and sharing the State Collection with communities worldwide.

Projects like this are invaluable in preserving, restoring, researching and sharing Queensland’s cultural and natural heritage, and enhancing the accessibility of our collections.
