Join Christopher Salter, Head of Cultures and Histories and lead curator of Make A Scene: Fashioning Queer Identity and Club Culture in the 90s. Christopher will share personal reflections and the makings of the exhibition.

Journey back to the 90s dancefloor on this guided tour through fashion, pop culture and lived experiences from the LGBTQIA+ community. Expect behind the scenes insights on the exhibition’s development and the real-life stories that shaped it, as Christopher illuminates key moments from this significant period of Brisbane’s history.

Find yourself surrounded by extraordinary pieces from the museum’s costume and fashion collections and significant loans from cultural institutions and artists including Darren Hayes and Kylie Minogue.

Make a Scene is a space of safety and inclusion – everyone with an open heart and mind is welcome on our exhibition dancefloor and Curators Tour. Love and respect never go out of style!

This exhibition aims to recreate the feel of a ’90s dance floor with music, lighting effects and reflective surfaces. Low lighting has also been used to promote the preservation of textile and paper objects throughout the exhibition. Please be aware of the reflective flooring and mind your step on the tour.
