In the 1990’s astronomer Prof Brian Schmidt pioneered a new way to study space, discovered the accelerating expansion of the universe, and earned a Nobel Prize. 16 years ago he became a mentor to a young physicist, Tamara Davis, who went on to become a Professor and pioneer new ways to study Dark Energy.

Tamara continues the tradition of nurturing young talent; with her former PhD student, Josh Calcino set to move to the birthplace of the atomic bomb to pioneer discoveries of the formation of planets in other solar systems.

The careers of these three inspiring scientists are intertwined and their passion for innovation is at the heart and soul of scientific advancement. This event is a unique opportunity to hear stories of discovery from three generations of Pioneers in Science.
