Multidisciplinary artist, Alick Tipoti (Koedal, Zugubaw Baydham, Kuki Guuba), joins Queensland Museum’s Peggy Kasabad Lane (Saibai Koedal) in this fireside chat about the rituals and meaning behind the crocodile dance.

Tipoti’s work Koedalaw Girer (crocodile dance) features in the exhibition Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends. Tipoti and his sons created the dance, and headdress, to celebrate and respect their crocodile totem. Influenced by 19th century turtle shell masks and historical dance practices, Koedalaw Girer helps keep traditional Torres Strait Islander culture dynamic and alive.

Bundle with an exhibition ticket for access to Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends and a 20% discount. Be one of the first visitors to come face-to-face with the mighty crocodile on opening weekend of Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends.
