Educational resources

Overview

In the Enforceable Undertaking (EU), Queensland Museum committed to developing a suite of educational resources profiling zoonotic diseases found in domestic and non-domestic animals. These resources are freely available for educators or the general community to download and use in classroom or other community education settings.

The first release (2025) comprised resources focusing specifically on Q fever, including a fact sheet, community awareness guide, a more comprehensive overview in Q fever – Discover More, and an interactive workbook containing quiz questions aimed at students in Grade 9. A Q fever loans kit is also available to borrow through Queensland Museum's Educational Loans Kit program.

The second release (2026) focuses on zoonotic diseases more broadly. The Zoonotic Disease Educator Resource has been designed as a specialist focus unit of work and may be used over a school term. It aligns with QCAA's Biology General Senior Syllabus 2025 (v1.3), integrating the syllabus guidelines for Year 11 Scientific Inquiry with the Launch, Inquire, Act pedagogical framework (an evidence-informed approach developed by the Australian Academy of Science).
