By the beginning of the Cretaceous Period, dinosaurs dominated every landscape on Earth. They lived from the north to south polar regions, through the hot equatorial tropics, and even deserts. Adapting to these different environments, the dinosaurs evolved a diversity of shape and size unparalleled by any vertebrate group before or since.
