Book in for our facilitated school program Creature Features where students participate in a gamified learning challenge to explore the adaptations of various native animals.

Program overview

Students will embark on a gamified learning challenge to search for animals that possess particular external features, as determined by the roll of our specially designed dice. Working collaboratively in small groups, students will interpret, identify and communicate as they seek out creatures with specific features by exploring the diverse Queensland environments featured in Discover Tropical Queensland.

Learning outcomes

Students will:

  • understand that Queensland’s animals have a variety of external features
  • understand that Queensland’s animals live in different habitats where their needs are met
  • understand that Queensland’s animals can be grouped on the basis of observable features
  • pose and respond to questions, and make predictions about familiar Queensland animals that possess specific external features
  • participate in guided investigations to explore and answer questions
  • communicate their findings through written and spoken word
  • reflect on and compare observations with other groups of students.
