Queensland Museum Tropics offers rich and unique experiences for your students that will support and extend their classroom learning. Through specially designed school programs, hands-on exhibits and exhibitions, your students will develop their love of learning and appreciation for Queensland's incredible biodiversity and natural heritage, history and culture when you visit.

Booking a self-led visit to the museum offers a unique opportunity to experience the museum's current travelling and permanent exhibitions at your leisure.
Expand on students' understanding of classroom content through the self-led exploration of objects and exhibitions showcasing Queensland Museum's unique collections and research.

What's on

Facilitated school programs
Designed to further enrich your visit, our suite of facilitated programs highlights the museum's collections and research and create a more in-depth and memorable exhibition experience. School programs vary in length and price, ranging from a 30-minute activity through to a comprehensive 2-hour experience. All facilitated school programs are delivered by the Museum Education Team or Collections and Research Team. 

Museum staff will provide a custom itinerary for your group and work with organisers to facilitate large groups requiring multiple sessions. We will also work with you to adjust and modify programs for any cohorts or students with specific needs.

Facilitated programs start at $5 per student. Teachers and supporting adults are free.

School admission prices

A general visit to the museum is free although bookings are essential. Popular dates fill up fast.

Experiences such as touring exhibitions, facilitated school programs, and events are optional and may incur a cost.

Teachers and supporting adults are admitted free at a ratio of 1:5 for prep, primary and secondary students and at a ratio of 1:4 for early childhood groups. Our team will invoice your school/group after your visit.

Bookings are essential for all school group visits. We encourage organisers to book as far in advance as possible to secure your preferred visit date and time.

Free visit for teachers

We invite teachers, early years educators and group supervisors to preview the museum free of charge prior to your visit to plan and prepare for your group's learning experience.

To redeem your free visit, simply show your teacher ID on arrival. Entry fees apply for family members and accompanying guests.
