From music bingo to edible insects, the sex lives of dragonflies, and more, there’s fun for everyone at our adults-only special closing weekend extravaganza.

Don’t Miss Out! 

  • 6:30pm: From Owl City to U2 to Cavetown to Nicki Minaj and beyond, musicians have been inspired to sing their hearts out and name their songs after the insects of the natural world. Join us and play for prizes as our host leads you through some fun Musical Bug Bingo. 
  • 7:00pm: Learn all about The Bizarre Sex Lives of Dragonflies and Damselflies in a hilarious and insightful talk by entomologist Dr Chris Burwell 
  • 7:30pm: Join Queensland Museums resident entomologist Dr Chris Burwell as he walks and talks his way through Insect Agency peeling back the layers of the exhibition and the amazing world of insects all around us in this marvellous Curator Tour.
  • 8:00pm: Long term insect fan or just great at studying when put on the spot? Grab a drink and team up to test your knowledge and see if you’ve got what it takes to take home the prize in our fun Insect Trivia showdown. 

Across the Night:

  • Bug Bites: Hear all about the world of edible insects and taste test a few of your own in this pop up station showcasing a range of Circle Harvest products. 
  • Craft a Critter: Flex your artistic chops and join us to make a beautiful insect take home piece to display
  • Snap up a Souvenir: The museum shop will be open all night to ensure you get the chance to pick up the souvenir of your dreams. 
  • Feast the Night Away: Take advantage of the extended hours to enjoy a drink from our Pop Up Bar and grab a bite to eat at the Galley Café.
  • You can even pre-order a Cupid's Grazing Platter for $20 until Wednesday 12 February. Share plate contains gluten, dairy and meat and dietary adjustments are for the platter are not available.

A limited cafe menu is available including gluten friendly, dairly free, vegetarian and vegan food options.
