Conservation is at the heart of what we do. Behind every incredible object at Queensland Museum is a team of experts working to preserve it.
With more than 15 million objects and specimens in our care, choosing just nine treasures to spotlight was no easy task! Each object has been hand-picked by our curators from across our diverse collections.
By virtually taking care of a treasure – whether for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for a loved one who has it all – you're helping our conservation experts do what they do best: protect, restore and care for objects so they can be experienced for generations to come. You'll also become part of the object's ongoing story, helping to ensure it continues to be shared with the world.
Explore the treasures, discover their stories, and choose one that speaks to you. There's no limit to how many treasures you can take care of, and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible. Become a conservation hero, take care of a treasure today!
You can also make a general donation to support other programs across our four museums. From advancing multidisciplinary research to expanding STEM learning programs, your support enables us to fulfil our mission to unite science and culture in ways that inspire, educate and connect communities.
Your donation supports our specialist staff to care for and preserve collections, ensuring they can be enjoyed by visitors for many years to come. This includes making more treasures accessible online for people everywhere to explore, no matter where they live. For more information, please contact foundation@qm.qld.gov.au.
Your support is invaluable. To thank you for taking care of a treasure you will receive:
