Strengthen your confidence in linking the Australian Curriculum: Science v9.0 with inquiry-based learning in this practical, hands-on workshop at SparkLab.

This session provides high-impact professional value by highlighting key curriculum and pedagogy connections with a specific focus on the Science Understanding strand. You will gain a practical framework to effectively prepare, guide, and extend student learning before, during, and after their visit.

By engaging directly with SparkLab’s interactive experiences—including the Maker Space, Science Bar, Science on a Sphere, and Electric Sparks—you will work alongside our science communicators to master strategies that spark curiosity and deepen student inquiry.

You will, with the guidance of our science communicators:

  • Engage – welcome + pre-visit preparation
  • Explore – hands-on experience of the SparkLab galleries:
  1. Our world and how it works
  2. How we perceive our world
  3. How we change our world
  • Explain – participate in SparkLab student-led science inquiries:
    • Science Bar
    • Science on a Sphere
    • Tesla Coil
    • Maker Space
  • Elaborate – reinforce student SparkLab learning on return to school
  • Evaluate – let us know how well we did i.e. complete evaluation questionnaire.
